A Smooth Ray cruises beneath Flinders Beach

A huge Smooth Ray swims with a school of baby Trevally in tow beneath the waters of Flinders Beach, Victoria, Australia.
These amazing Rays can often be found sweeping the seafloor for food. They do this by detecting small electrical impulses from hidden animal heartbeats and so forth. The baby Trevally are probably following along hopeful of a few snacks or left overs. The Ray also provides a small degreee of protection for these young animals. A great example how on ocean ecosystem works together.
